Crawford Manor residents who find nothing to keep them busy are not looking very hard. Activities of all kinds are available to those who enjoy interacting with their neighbors.
Some activities are seasonal affairs that residents look forward to year round. The Spring Salad luncheon and Holiday Brunch are favorites. Outings away from Crawford Manor are also popular; made possible in part by our eight passenger (wheelchair accessible) van. Outings can include: picnics, explorations, viewing holiday lights and special luncheons at various places such as the Ayers Tea Room located in the new Indiana State Museum.
You don't necessarily need to leave Crawford Manor to experience live entertainment. We are frequently blessed by the generosity of local talent. Choirs, jazz bands and, of course, children have provided countless hours of entertainment.
Seldom does a holiday go by without some type of activity organized by the Resident Activity Committee. Pitch-in dinners are very popular along with chili suppers, spaghetti dinners, fish fry's, bean suppers - you name it. Euchre and Bingo are regular events on the Crawford Manor Calendar. Residents are welcome and encouraged to suggest activities or special events.
A non-denominational worship service is held weekly, and is presided over by a ministry group from a local church. Residents of all faiths are welcome to hold services in the building, as well as establish discussion forums or study groups.
Though many believe that apartments and gardens do not go together, this is not true at Crawford Manor. If it is vegetables that you want to watch grow, the Crawford Manor staff provides raised garden boxes, which eliminate some of the bending and stooping, or garden plots. Maybe it is flowers that peak your interest. Not a problem! Many residents have developed beautiful flower gardens around the exterior of the building.
Crawford Manor residents are provided a monthly newsletter that keeps them informed of daily activities. It also includes valuable information that enables them to live in a healthy, safe environment. Crawford Manor is not just a place to live; it is a place to make new friends and live life to the fullest.
